Your Dream Trip Goes Wrong

You finally travel to your dream country, but your luggage disappears, your hotel reservation is wrong, and you accidentally get on the wrong train. How do you survive the first day?

Listen to the Dialogue

Dialogue: Ruth & Michael

Ruth: So, quick update: my suitcase is gone, the hotel has no record of our booking, and I think we just got on the wrong train.

Michael: I'm sorry, “the wrong train” — as in, currently? Right now?

Ruth: Currently. Right now. We are going the opposite direction from where we planned.

Michael: Okay. Okay, this is fine. This is a story we'll tell later.

Ruth: I love that you're already writing the story instead of solving the problem.

Michael: Multitasking. Let's get off at the next stop and figure out the hotel situation first — that feels more urgent than the suitcase.

Ruth: Agreed. I've got the confirmation email, so hopefully that's enough to prove we actually booked a room.

Michael: And if it's not?

Ruth: Then we find literally any place with a bed and pretend this was the plan all along.

Michael: I respect that energy. Honestly, my dream trip was never going to be perfect anyway.

Ruth: No?

Michael: No. I just wanted a good story. This is already a great one.

Ruth: You're annoyingly positive for someone who just lost a suitcase.

Michael: It wasn't my suitcase.

Ruth: ...Right. Well. Let's go find our actual hotel.
