Refilling a Chronic Prescription

Siti, an older caregiver from Indonesia, comes to refill her diabetes medicine.

Listen to the Dialogue

Dialogue: Sharon & Siti

Siti: Excuse me. I need more medicine, the same medicine, for my diabetes.

Sharon: You mean a prescription refill? Do you have your old prescription record?

Siti: Yes, here, from last month.

Sharon: Since it's a chronic disease medicine, you can refill without seeing the doctor today. Take this to the pharmacy counter with your NHI card.

Siti: I don't need to see the doctor?

Sharon: Not today — chronic prescriptions are valid for repeat refills. But please see Dr. Lin again next month for a check-up.

Siti: Okay, next month, I will remember.

Sharon: Great. Pharmacy is to your left.

Siti: Thank you very much.
