Aliens Land at Your University

Three friendly aliens land on campus and ask students to explain human life. You have 10 minutes to explain university, dating, food, money, and social media to them.

Listen to the Dialogue

Dialogue: Ruth & Michael

Ruth: Okay, they're here, they're friendly, and they want us to explain human life in ten minutes. Go.

Michael: Ten minutes? For all of human life?

Ruth: University, dating, food, money, and social media. Ten minutes. Clock's running.

Michael: Right. Okay. University is where you pay money to be tired and stressed, but also it's where you meet your best friends, so it's worth it.

Ruth: Good start. Dating is when two people pretend to be very relaxed while actually being extremely nervous.

Michael: Accurate. Food is — okay, food is easy, food is just the best part of being human, no notes.

Ruth: Agreed, don't overthink that one. Money is a piece of paper, or these days, not even paper, that we all agreed matters a lot, even though none of us really understands why.

Michael: Beautifully explained. And social media is where humans show everyone their best five minutes and call it their whole life.

Ruth: Wow. That got dark fast.

Michael: I contain multitudes. Anyway — three minutes left. Any questions, aliens?

Ruth: They're just staring at us.

Michael: Understandable reaction to that last one about social media.

Ruth: Fair.
