St. Vincent and the Grenadines is a Caribbean country made up of many beautiful islands. The country has 32 islands and small islands, so visitors can enjoy many different places during one trip. The larger island is a good choice for people who enjoy hiking, while the smaller islands are suitable for swimming and snorkeling. One of the attractions is Tobago Keys, which is made up of five smaller islands. Another famous island is Mustique, which is often visited by members of the royal family.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines also has an important cultural festival called Vincey Mas. The festival takes place before Ash Wednesday. Traditionally, this is a time to have fun before returning to a more religious period. In the Caribbean colonies, the celebration also became a way for people who spent much of their time working in the fields to enjoy themselves. Today, people celebrate by wearing colorful costumes and drinking alcohol. Vincey Mas is described in the program as the “hottest carnival in the Caribbean.”
The program also introduces several people from St. Vincent and the Grenadines and their favorite experiences in Taiwan. Elra Wilson arrived in Taiwan in 2019. One of her favorite attractions is a food shop. When she first arrived, she was looking for a food shop and met some friendly women who spoke English. They welcomed her and introduced her to different Taiwanese foods. Elra says that Taiwanese food is very delicious, and she encourages visitors to try the many foods available in Taiwan.
Veronica talks about her experience at Taiwan Pride. She says that this year was the most fun she had at Pride. When she first came to Taiwan, some of her first friends were queer or LGBTQ+. She also describes meeting strangers who were warm and welcoming. For her, the most important part of the experience was seeing her friends and enjoying the atmosphere together.
Shebian introduces another favorite activity in Taiwan: the Wulai Bicycle Route. Cycling is one of her favorite activities because it is a great way to explore the country. She enjoys the beautiful views and often goes cycling on weekends, either alone, with a friend, or with a larger group. She sees cycling as a good way to enjoy and explore the beauty of Taiwan.
The program ends with a quick-fire discussion about differences in daily life. One person was surprised that some university classmates showered only at night and did not shower again in the morning. Another surprise was Taiwan’s late-night snacks. She says that eating late-night food after arriving in Taiwan caused her to gain about five to ten kilograms.
